ANNICK TAPERNOUX IS AN ARTIST GOLDSMITH CURRENTLY BASED AND WORKING IN BRUSSELS. SHE WAS TRAINED IN JEWELRY DESIGN AND GOLDWORKING IN ANTWERP AND HOLDS A MASTER OF ARTS FROM THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART IN LONDON.
HIS WORK IS BOTH INTUITIVE AND TACTILE, MARKED BY HIS CONNECTION TO NATURE AND HIS AFFECTION FOR JAPAN. IT AIMS TO CREATE OBJECTS THAT EXHIBIT A SERENE PRESENCE AND SUBTLE BEAUTY, INVITE TO CONTEMPLATION AND RITUAL, WHILE PROMOTING AN ATTENTION GESTURE.
THE FEELING THAT SHE ASPIRATES TO TRANSMIT IS THAT OF RADIANCE, LIGHT, EMOTION AND PRESENCE.
"I LIKE TO IMAGINE THE OBJECTS THAT I CREATE AS WITNESSES OF A VANISHED CIVILIZATION. GUARDIANS, SENTINELS OF A PEACEFUL AND CALM WORLD.
THE APPARENTLY SIMPLE SHAPES APPEAR SLOWLY, OVER THOUSANDS OF HAMMER BLOWS.
THE FASCINATION LIES IN THE MATERIAL AND ITS SURFACE WITH ITS APPARENT SIMPLICITY. THE FORM SUPPORTS THE SURFACE, WHICH IS SKILLEDLY WORKED UNTIL ITS MATERIALITY DISSOLVES."
