Collection: Alia Vitae

ALIA VITAE WAS BORN FROM THE DESIRE TO PAY HOMAGE TO THE WORK OF FRENCH DESIGNER ANDRÉ CAZENAVE (1925-2009), IN PARTICULAR HIS LIGHT SCULPTURES PUBLISHED BY ATELIER A IN THE 1970S, THE “DORA” LAMP MORE COMMONLY CALLED THE LAMP “CAILLOU”: ALONE REPRESENTING THE AVANT-GARDISM AND POETRY OF THE ARTIST’S WORK.

CREATING THIS LAMP REQUIRED A COMPLETE REINVENTION OF TECHNIQUE. A CAPTIVATING CHALLENGE FOR ALIA VITAE, WHO, AFTER NUMEROUS EXPERIMENTS IN ITS WORKSHOP BASED IN MONTREUIL, THE DORA LAMP CONSISTS OF A FIBERGLASS STRUCTURE COATED WITH A THIN LAYER OF MARBLE AND QUARTZ POWDER, THE RESULT OF A FUSION BETWEEN INNOVATION AND CRAFTSMANSHIP.
