THE INTRINSIC POWER OF OBJECTS

Sophie Lou Jacobsen

Sophie Lou Jacobsen, a French-American designer currently based in New York, started her own studio in 2019. Her initial interest was in everyday objects, with a predominance in the use of glass as a medium, exploring the interaction between the object and the user. The genesis of her work is based on the belief that objects have an intrinsic power to improve the mood of their users through their form and function. Focused on the simplicity of objects and rituals, she strives to transform them in surprising and pleasant ways in order to enrich the user experience.

GLASS ARTISANAL WORK

Sauvage Ulysses

"It was during my art studies that I became interested in artisanal glasswork. After training as a scientific glassblower in 2018 and a few months in a company, I created Ulysse Sauvage in 2020. My work questions the limits and codes of blowing borosilicate glass, a high-quality and very solid glass. It is worked with a blowtorch and is generally used for the manufacture of laboratory equipment.
