Collection: Jules Lobgeois

JULES LOBGEOSIS IS A FRENCH DESIGNER, ORIGINAL FROM NORMANDY, IN EURE. HE GRADUATED FROM THE NATIONAL SUPERIOR SCHOOL OF APPLIED ARTS (ENSAAMA) OLIVIER DE SERRES IN PARIS AND FROM THE DSAA LAAB IN RENNES. AFTER HIS STUDIES IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN, HE FOCUSED ON SCULPTURE APPLIED TO OBJECTS. HE ACQUIRED HIS EXPERTISE FROM A METALWORKER THEN FROM THE DESIGNER CABINET MAKER KASPAR HAMACHER, THUS DEVELOPING A PASSION FOR THESE TWO MATERIALS.
HIS WORK FOCUSES ON THE FUSION BETWEEN WOOD, WITH ITS ORGANIC DIMENSION, AND METAL, WITH ITS RIGIDITY, IN A POETIC APPROACH. HE METICULOUSLY CHOOSES WOOD, OFTEN FROM FALLEN TREES, WHICH HE STORES UNTIL IT IS READY TO BE WORKED. HIS METHOD OF SCULPTURE IS SPONTANEOUS, THE SHAPES COMING TO LIFE ON CONTACT WITH WOOD IN A CONSTANT DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE MATERIAL AND ITS TOOLS.
HE PAYS PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS, THE GRAINS AND THE STRUCTURE OF EACH PIECE OF WOOD. HIS SCULPTURES ARE DESIGNED AS VOLUMES CAPTURING AND REFRACTING LIGHT, THUS REVEALING THEIR TIGHT LINES AND THEIR FUTURISTIC CURVES THANKS TO A SUBLT PLAY OF LIGHT.
