Vanderohe Curio

Curio is a hand -based glassware workshop based in London, founded by Olivia Thorpe. Olivia started with a small collection of colored and hand-blown Christmas balls, which she presented during a pop-up for her skin care brand, Vanderohe. They were sold instantly, which led him to receive a request to design a collection of colorful glassware for net-a-wear.

Olivia's interests for fashion, art and crafts, as well as its botany and alchemy career, have led to a main collection of colored glassware and blown with expertise: glasses similar to jewelry, pieces Impressive mistresses and sparkling objects, all in a range of speckled and degraded colors reflecting elements of the natural world.

Olivia’s first collection was quickly followed by invitations to be distributed at Selfridge’s, Liberty London, Harrod’s and The Conran Shop. At the same time, Olivia was invited to revitalize the River Café boutique and exhibit a main collection of pieces in their trio of emblematic colors. At the end of the first year of Curio, Claridge's asked for a collaboration and Olivia designed a collection in elegant opaline colors reflecting the emblematic Art-Deco hotel in London, which continue to be the central point of their beautiful store Mayfair. More recently, Olivia continued their partnership, developing parts for the new Maybourne SPA in Knightsbridge, Surrenne.

Olivia draws her main inspiration from her alchemy career, fascinated by the way the colors mix and transform during the creative process and in the final room, evoking a feeling of movement and metamorphosis in the inanimate. The influential designers for Olivia include Elsa Peretti, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Barbara Hepworth, Arne Jacobsen and, more recently, Jonathan Anderson.
