MARJATTA WECKSTRÖM WAS A FINNISH SCULPTOR RENOWNED FOR HER EXPRESSIVE AND DYNAMIC WORKS, OFTEN MADE IN BRONZE AND OTHER MATERIALS. AMONG HIS MOST NOTABLE WORKS ARE “FENIXIN HORIZONTTI” (1984), AN IMPORTANT SCULPTURE ON DISPLAY AT THE LEPPÄVAARA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF IN ESPOO, AND “LIEKEHTIVÄ FENIX” (1991), LOCATED AT THE MEILAHTI SCHOOL IN HELSINKI.
