HER PIECES, BOTH RIGOROUS AND POETIC, EMERGE FROM PRIMARY FORMS—CYLINDERS, CIRCLES, DOMES—WHICH SHE ETCHES WITH HYPNOTIC SCRATCHES AND CAREFULLY CALIBRATED SURFACE DESIGNS.
HER CREATIONS, WITH THEIR ASSERTIVE ARCHITECTURE, ARE PUNCTUATED BY COMPOSITIONS OF PARALLELOGRAMS, PELLETS, AND CLAY BEADS.
"I AM VERY ORGANIZED AND I NEED STRUCTURE TO PROGRESS," EXPLAINS THE ARTIST. "MY REPETITIVE MOTIFS PROVIDE A FORM OF REASSURANCE. EVEN THOUGH MY WORKS ARE STRUCTURED, I LET GO DURING THEIR SHAPING; THEY IMPOSE THEIR OWN LOGIC."
RESOLUTELY GRAPHIC AND ABSTRACT, HER CERAMICS EVOKE A MULTITUDE OF IMAGINARIES. NOTCHED VASES RECALLING MEDIEVAL TOWERS, STAIR-STEP DOMES INSPIRED BY MAYAN PYRAMIDS, OR SAUCERS STRAIGHT OUT OF SCIENCE FICTION FILMS.
