SOPHIE LOU JACOBSEN

SOPHIE LOU JACOBSEN IS A FRENCH-AMERICAN DESIGNER CURRENTLY BASED IN NEW YORK. SHE FOUNDED HER STUDIO IN 2019, WITH AN INITIAL FOCUS ON EVERYDAY USE OBJECTS, PRIMARILY USING GLASS AS A MEDIUM AND EXPLORING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE OBJECT AND THE USER. HIS WORK STRIVES FROM THE IDEA THAT OBJECTS HAVE AN INNATE POWER TO IMPROVE THEIR USER’S MOOD THROUGH FORM AND FUNCTION. SHE FOCUSES ON SIMPLE OBJECTS AND RITUALS, SEEKING TO SEE HOW SHE CAN MODIFY THEM IN SURPRISING, PLEASANT WAYS AND ELEVATE THE USER EXPERIENCE. SHE BELIEVES THAT THE OBJECTS THAT ENTER US CAN AND SHOULD BE IMPROVED WITH A CERTAIN POETRY, CREATING A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HUMANS AND OBJECTS BASED ON MUTUAL RESPECT.
