“PRESSURE” MODEL CHROME VASE BY TIM TEVEN STUDIO.
THE VASES ARE MADE FROM STANDARD STEEL TUBES, WHICH, WHEN EXPOSED TO EXTREME PRESSURE, BEGINS TO BREAK. THE WRINKLES THAT APPEAR GIVE THIS NORMALLY HARD AND COLD MATERIAL A SOFT AND TANGIBLE APPEARANCE. USUALLY, THIS DEFORMATION IS CONSIDERED A DEFECT BY THE INDUSTRY. SINCE THE FOLDS PINCH AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PRESSURE VESSEL, THE DEFORMATION BECAME A FUNCTIONAL DETAIL.
TECHNIQUE DEVELOPED WITH A MODIFIED HYDRAULIC PRESS IN THE STUDIO.

Tim Teven

Tim Teven (1993), Dutch designer, graduated at the Eindhoven design academy in 2018. His approach to design, focused on technique and materials, associated with a practical way of working, allows him to play And to create in an experimental way. In many works, the production process is used as a design tool and an essential aspect to shape the final result and the function of the object. By treating the materials in an unconventional way to rethink the manufacturing process, he manages to find surprising techniques which can then be translated into a functional but interesting object. Teven works from his design studio based in Eindhoven, founded in 2018, where all objects are handcrafted with industrial know-how.
